Bulani, the new tug specially built for the Port of Maputo’s maritime operations, was inaugurated by the Minister of Transports and Communications, Mr. Gabriel Muthisse, on the 13th of December. The inauguration was the closing event on the agenda of the Minister’s first working visit to the Port of Maputo.
Bulani has a bollard pull of 60 tons and it was acquired for almost $US 7 million. This acquisition represents a part of a series of investments which P&O Maritime has been doing since the beginning of the contract between P&OM and MPDC.
The visit also served as an opportunity for the Minister, who recently took office, to evaluate the works being done in the light of the Port’s Master plan, including the new bulk terminal, the rehabilitated main road, the expanded Gate 1 (access to cargo vehicles), amongst other expansion and rehabilitation works taking place at the Port.
