The Port of Maputo has been breaking some serious productivity records and the latest examples are the proof of this: on the 15th and 16th of November, M/V Zhon Shaw Hai ship called to the Port of Maputo, in a operation of loading of chrome ore concentrate with grabs system. In this operation, the team involved managed to achieve an impressing GTPH (Gross Tones Per Hour) of 404,3. The fact that it was a single hatch (only one group) contributed for the record but we cannot overlook the organization and high motivation of the team involved.
Also on the 26th of November, an internal record has been broken in the unloading of ferrochrome wagons. On a 12 hour shift, the team led by the Shift Supervisor Mr. Macheze, managed to unload 67 wagons, when the last years average was on 30 wagons. This was a result of the fact that there are more and fully working operational equipment and new work schemes were implemented.
The most fantastic about these two examples is that they were done with zero harm. In fact, in the whole month of October, there was not one single incident in Port Maputo’s operations and in the last external safety audit, performed by Grindrod in November, MPDC HSE’s Departament achieved an impressing number of 92% of compliance.
