The newly opened Maputo Intermodal Container Depot (MICD), officially inaugurated by the Minister of Transport and Communications Gabriel Muthisse on the 15th of May, will contribute to help relieve congestion at the DP World container terminal as well as to contribute to the success of the port Master plan, with cargo volume growth.
This new terminal will be responsible to handle and store containers for the packing and un-packing of cargoes, in the Port of Maputo. The facility is composed by a 8 000 m² Warehouse, an empty container yard for 2 000 TEU’s and Full container yard for 300 TEU’s.
Built at an estimate cost of $30 million, MICD has the capacity to store up to 120 000 tons of general cargo per annum.
