Two of the four 28-ton capacity Kalmar forklifts commissioned by MPDC have just arrived at the Port of Maputo. These acquisitions are part of the ongoing investment in equipment by the company, to meet one of the objectives of the Port Master Plan – to improve the efficiency of port operations.
The equipment purchased not only possesses higher handling capacity compared to the old ones, but they also have an improved ergonomics. Being more comfortable for the operators means an improvent in the quality of output from the operator, improved focus and decreases the risk of accidents and damages. The new equipment comes with an improvement of all round vision, better cab layout, well positioned control levers and gauges, all aimed at improving the operating ability of the equipment.
The investment of such high quality equipment reflects the company’s commitment to achieving the goal of handling more than 20 million tons of cargo by the end of 2014.
