The Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) delivered eight mobile respiratory ventilators to the Ministry of Health on 25 November.
“We are aware of the limitations that the health sector faces in our country, aggravated by the pandemic, and as a port that receives almost 10,000 people daily, we are well aware of our responsibility in combating and preventing COVID-19”, said Osório Lucas, Director – MPDC executive.
These are LYRA x1 compact turbine driven ventilators with multi-function, covering the non-invasive and invasive ventilation, and are suitable for treatment of most patient type from neonatal to adult. Because of their mobility, there ventilators are versatile throughout hospital and transport. These ventilators are also equipped with oxygen masks (non-invasive ventilation), multi-ventilation masks, face masks, respiratory circuit, endotracheal tubes (invasive ventilation).
MPDC’s collaboration with the Health sector has been permanent, going well beyond the support related to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to a donation of 3,000 N-95 masks in April this year, MPDC is also supporting the gastroenterology unit in the acquisition of an electro-surgical source that will allow to offer cutting-edge care to patients in that unit. This equipment will be delivered soon.
