The Port of Maputo has inaugurated 5 brand new simulators for all types of machine operations, including RTG, mobile and fixed crane, forklift, tractor, among many others. The simulators were inaugurated by the Minister of Transports and Communications, Carlos Mesquita, and are part of a complete training facility which also includes an artificial training hatch, an obstacle field for maneuver training and facilities for theory classes.
“We urge all stakeholders in the port sector to join in this MPDC initiative, forming the necessary synergies, in order to avoid duplication of effort in the area of port training that we have seen since the closure of the rail-port School in 2002”, said Mesquita.
MPDC counts with an institutional partnership with the Port of Antwerp to ensure the establishment of adequate training programs. The simulators will allow an increase of productivity as well as reduction or elimination of incidents. The center currently serves MPDC and its subs-concessions but it is prepared to train all types of port terminal operators.
