Portus Indico, the major shareholder of the Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC), has acquired the Mozambique Cabotage Terminal (TCM) by purchasing 70% of Navique’s shares. Navique’s shareholding structure is now 70% Portus Indico, 20% IGEPE and 10% Focus21. On its turn, Navique has 51% of TCM; the remaining 49% of the shares remain with the National Railway Company, CFM.
The administration and operation of the terminal will be under the responsibility of MPDC.
With this acquisition, Portus Indico expects to improve the quality and promote of the cabotage service in Mozambique. The Terminal will be able to provide additional services such as storage of cars, handling of passenger vessels as well as other added-value services.
The shares were acquired from Navique – Empresa Moçambicana de Navegação SARL, that operated the terminal from 2000. This is one of the oldest terminals of the Port of Maputo, originally designated as Zone A and B, located alongside Berth 1. It is comprised by 27.000 square meters of paved area, a berth 300m long and 5.000 square meters of covered area, distributed amongst several warehouses.
