Water is becoming scarce. But when we are comfortably seating on our offices and there is plenty of water available on our desks, in the receptions and inside meeting rooms, do we really feel the impact of a message saying that we have to save water? What if inside the Port of Maputo, water was already so scarce that we had to use very little and share this little we had?
That was the concept behind the guerilla action that took place on the 21st of March, one day before the World Water Day, when the Port of Maputo decided to create awareness about the importance to save water. Every meeting room, every office was supplied with two things: small shot glasses and a small bottle of water. The shot glasses had written “Save water before this becomes a routine” and the bottle of water had a label saying “Share it if you are not finishing it – Do not open this bottle if you don’t intend to finish it. Avoid wasting water.”
People were caught by surprise and the action was a success, creating a buzz amongst all the departments of MPDC.
Posters and an electronic bulletin with practical hints on how to save water were also distributed on the World Water Day.
